Osprey Watch Staff and Volunteers
Osprey watch 2018 was supported by nearly 40 volunteers and staff. The 24 hour watch over 44 days saw a total of 1056 man hours to provide the security and protection for the Osprey nest and the eggs. The dedication and commitment from our volunteers who give up their free time each year is inspiring. This year we welcomed 9 new volunteers.
Our hide volunteers are also committed to spreading their wealth of knowledge about our Ospreys to the visitors of the Loch of the Lowes, this helps to make their experience all the more enjoyable. The Species Protection Officers have shown professionalism, during their 8 week contract. They have collected valuable data, footage and assisted in many aspects of running a successful Osprey watch, which can be challenging especially with coping with the night shifts.
With the success of 2 chicks hatching we will continue to monitor and observe our Ospreys until they leave for their migration at the end of the summer.

So many thanks to all those who have helped us this year with nearly 50 years of Osprey watch behind us The Scottish Wildlife Trust will continue to protect Ospreys here at Loch of the Lowes for the next 50.
If you want to see for yourselves why not visit Loch of the Lowes and observe the Ospreys and their chicks from one of hides or follow their progress on our webcam, blogs, Twitter and Facebook.
