The Trust is hosting a series of monthly events in Ayrshire from now until March 2018. These include chances to plant trees and create natural Christmas wreaths, celebrate the Bard’s birthday, and discover wonderful waders and amazing amphibians.
Harry Richards, Scottish Wildlife Trust said: “The Scottish Wildlife Trust looks after fifteen beautiful wildlife reserves in Ayrshire. These include spectacular ancient woodlands, and wildlife rich meadows and marshes.
“Our monthly events are kindly supported by the William Grant Foundation and players of the National Lottery. They are free to attend and a great chances for families to get outdoors and discover the nature that is on their doorstep.”

Sunday 19 November 11am – 1pm Treemendous trees, Shewalton Wood Wildlife Reserve, Irvine
Celebrate National Tree Week by learning all about native trees. Build a den and plant some trees for future generations to enjoy. Suitable for all ages.
Sunday 17 December 11am – 1pm Christmas Wreath Making, Gailes Marsh Wildlife Reserve, Irvine
Create your own Christmas wreath made from natural materials gathered from local wildlife reserves. Lots of festive fun and just in time for Christmas. Suitable for all ages.
Sunday 21 January 11am – 1pm Burns Historical Walk, Ayr Gorge Woodlands Wildlife Reserve, Failford
Celebrate the Bard’s birthday with a walk around an ancient woodland. Learn all about Rabbie Burns and Highland Mary, whose meeting on the banks of the River Ayr sparked a famous romance. Suitable for age eight and above.
Sunday 18 February 11am-1pm Wonderful Waders, Scottish Wildlife Trust office in Irvine
An indoor session followed by a visit to a local beach to learn about the wonderful waders that can be seen on the coast during winter. Suitable for age eight and above.
Sunday 18 March 11am-1pm – Amazing Amphibians, Scottish Wildlife Trust office in Irvine
Learn all about frogs, toads and newts during their breeding season. Indoor session followed by a visit to a local reserve. Suitable for age eight and above.
