Striking images of Scotland’s grouse by photographer Ian Hay can be seen at the Scottish Wildlife Trust’s Montrose Basin Visitor Centre.

The Lek by photographer Ian Hay features images of red grouse, black grouse and capercailie. It is on display at the visitor centre until 31 May.

Emma Castle-Smith, Assistant Manager of Montrose Basin Visitor Centre said: “We were thrilled when Ian approached us about exhibiting his beautiful wildlife photographs at Montrose Basin. Our temporary exhibitions add extra interest for regular visitors and we always aim to have something a little bit different.”

Ian Hay, a professional photographer based in the Angus Glens, said: “Until recently four species of grouse lived in Angus. Sadly only three remain with the largest, the capercaillie, now gone from our local forests. The exhibition explores my relationship with red grouse, black grouse and capercaillie. The last grouse species, ptarmigan, will remain unfinished business for now.”

Montrose Basin Visitor Centre is open daily from 10.30am–5.00pm.
