The Trust can reveal the remaining two eggs hatched at the Scottish Wildlife Trust Loch of the Lowes Visitor Centre and Wildlife Reserve over the bank holiday weekend.  

On Saturday morning (23 May) at 08.08, the Osprey Watch Team – sponsored by People’s postcode Lottery – spotted the second chick. Then at 7.00pm on Saturday, the team noticed small cracks in the third egg. During the course of Sunday (24 May) the cracks grew as the third chick slowly hatched. By 9.09 on Monday morning, the third chick had created a very distinctive hole in the egg and it became clear hatching was imminent. Finally at 4.53pm, the third chick broke free of its egg.

 The Scottish Wildlife Trust Perthshire Ranger, Charlotte Fleming, said: “The whole team of staff and volunteers at Loch of the Lowes is delighted the eggs have all hatched safely. The new parents are behaving as expected, feeding and protecting their new chicks.

“The Scottish Wildlife Trust would urge the public to visit Loch of the Lowes to see these lovely new chicks as they develop. Our team of experts are on hand to offer live interpretation and teach people about why osprey conservation in Scotland is such a success story.”
