Sunday at Lowes
It’s been a busy day (so far) at Loch of the Lowes with warm, dry weather bringing lots of visitors to see the ospreys and red squirrels. We are running a ‘Happy Hopping’ children’s event over this week-end with quizzes and activities to learn more about frogs and toads. Volunteers from Osprey Watch and those who help in the visitor centre have been doing a fine job of multi-tasking today!
Webcam
Last night there was a local power-cut and although we have managed to get all the other electrical gadgets/screens etc up and working again, we are unable (at present) to re-instate the streaming of the osprey cam. Apologies: why do these things always happen on a Sunday? We hope to have it running smoothly again tomorrow.
Fallow Deer Fawn
Also this morning, a fallow deer fawn managed to become entangled in a boundary fence near the car park. We alerted the SSPCA and did all we could to ensure it was safe until they arrived. Happily, although stressed and exhausted, the fawn only sustained a flesh wound and just five minutes after the officer left, she called us to say she had spotted it further up the hill where a group of fallow were lying in the undergrowth. More than likely, this is its herd and it is now back with its mother.
We are now looking forward to an uneventful afternoon of osprey and red squirrel watching.
