Charity Lottery, People’s Postcode Lottery, has today announced that its players have raised over £20 million for good causes since its launch in 2008, bringing smiles to the faces of people all over the country.
From national charities to local good causes, the funding raised by players is making a huge difference to communities, and having raised over £20 million in total, and over £14 million in Scotland alone, there’s plenty to celebrate.
Players of People’s Postcode Lottery have raised £2.3 million for the Scottish Wildlife Trust. Each pound raised goes towards looking after Scotland’s very special wildlife and to inspire people to protect our valuable natural heritage. Our wildlife reserves and a great range of species such as the red squirrel, European beaver, peregrine falcon, fragrant orchid, freshwater pearl mussel, narrow headed ant and puffin are benefiting from the support of People’s Postcode Lottery, and we are able to do even more to protect and maintain the beauty of our forests, glens, lochs, urban greenspaces, and meadows.
People’s Postcode Lottery Managing Director Jo Bucci said, “Raising over £20 million for good causes across Great Britain is a massive achievement and it’s all thanks to generous players.
“The recession has hit all sectors, but obviously an area of particular concern has been the impact it’s had on charitable giving. We are so proud that we have helped to buck that trend, and continue to raise funds for causes that find their services are in more demand than ever before.”
It’s not just the Scottish Wildlife Trust who are celebrating the milestone achievement. Maggie’s, Missing People and CHILDREN 1ST all extended their congratulations to the players and thanks for the funding received to date.
People’s Postcode Lottery launched in Scotland in January 2008. 40p from every £2 ticket goes direct to good causes. Click here for more information.
