Scottish Beaver Trial a big hit in any language

Since their release in 2009, the animals of the Scottish Beaver Trial in Argyll have attracted the attention of people around the world.

This weekend saw the beavers’ first starring performance in Welsh, as they appeared in the S4C programme “Antur y Gorllewin”.

In this exciting series, naturalist Iolo Williams travels around Western Europe, looking at the wildlife and natural environment on the Atlantic coast.

Spotting the beavers of Argyll was one of several adventures for Iolo in Scotland this week. He visited the internationally important Atlantic oakwoods in the West Highlands, before heading to the Outer Hebrides and the Orkney islands. The show contains some lovely shots of guillemots, otters, seals and birds of prey… and of course the Knapdale beavers!

There are also a large number of new video clips on the Scottish Beaver Trial blog, including footage of animals grooming, feeding and dam-building. Click here for all the latest videos on the official Trial blog.
