The Scottish Wildlife Trust have said that the news that Carbon Capture and Storage is to be dropped at Longannet goes to show how flimsy the case for a new coal fired power station at Hunterston.
Commenting, Scottish Wildlife Trust Head of Policy Tony King said:
“The news that Longannet CCS is being dropped is hugely disappointing for Scotland’s climate targets and calls further into question whether the proposed new coal-fired power station at Hunterston will use CCS technology, as the developers have been suggesting. The abandonment of CCS at Longannet underlines just how flimsy the Hunterston proposal is.”
