The Scottish Wildlife Trust today launched a public consultation on management of its Cumbernauld Greenspace Wildlife Reserves: Luggiebank Wood, Forest Wood, Cumbernauld Glen and Northside Wood. The Scottish Wildlife Trust is inviting local people and members to comment on proposed Long Term Forest Plans.

The Scottish Wildlife Trust is holding drop-in sessions at two local venues.

What is a Long Term Forest Plan?
The Forest Plan aims to deliver long-term environmental benefits through sustainable forest management and consists of a strategic plan describing the major forest operations over a 20 year period.  An approved* Forest Plan will give approval for appropriate management and the means of accessing grants for restructuring and regeneration. It will also provide access to other grant support through Rural Development Contracts – Rural Priorities.

*LTFP’s are approved by Forestry Commission Scotland and must meet the minimum requirements set out in the UK Forestry Standard.
