The female osprey at Loch of the Lowes appears to be spending her last precious moments at Loch of the Lowes.
This is her 20th breeding season at Lowes, a UK record, and during these years, she has touched the hearts of many. You just have to read the osprey blog to see the impact she has made on people's lives. This is incredibly sad news, not just for the team at Loch of the Lowes, but also for the hundreds of dedicated osprey bloggers.
Whilst it is difficult to watch such a magnificent bird in this condition, the Scottish Wildlife Trust has a no-interventon policy. We are monitoring the situation closely and although we have permission to remove the body for autopsy, we cannot intervene with the chicks.
Let us all hope that the male osprey continues to look after the chicks.
