Our volunteers – The backbone of the reserve!
Every Tuesday we have a group of volunteers that meet at the Falls of Clyde Visitor Centre in New Lanark to lend a hand with practical conservation tasks around the reserve. Some of the tasks the team has been up to recently includes improving drainage, repairing fences and signs, footpath and boardwalk maintenance, replanting saplings in the tree nursery, building sand martin next boxes and putting up bird boxes.
As well as the folk in the photo our other regulars include Steve (Reserve Manager), Laura (Falls of Clyde Ranger), Ken, Jim and Dennis. The photos below show some examples of the work the team gets up to!
If you are interested in joining us please get in touch with Laura Preston – lpreston@scottishwildlifetrust.org.uk. The group meets every Tuesday 10am-2pm. No previous experience is required just an eagerness to get stuck in (and sometimes get a bit muddy)!
