Join local natural history societies on a joint outing to Barry Buddon. Come along for a guided walk across the military training ground. Choose your focus - birds, or flora and butterflies - and enjoy this spectacular area in the company of expert nature watchers.
Access is often restricted but, for one day only, there will be regulated access to the whole site. It has been a military training area for over 100 years and has never been "improved". Barry Buddon is one of the last untouched natural sand dune systems on the east coast of Scotland. It contains habitats from pioneer dunes to a full succession of dunes, dune heathland, woodland and grass land. It is important for its range of wild flowers, migrating birds and invertebrates. Dolphins are often visible from the shore. There are birds and plants in abundance, enough to delight even the most seasoned nature lover. This visit is an absolute must for all wildlife enthusiasts.
