Join us for a talk about the wildlife of the head of Loch Tay and the Loch Tay Marshes SSSI, with time for Q&As after.
At the head of Loch Tay is the Loch Tay Marshes Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). The SSSI is one of the most extensive examples of an open water transition fen in the Stirling area.
Dr John P. Holland, Upland Ecologist based at SRUC Hill & Mountain research centre will give an illustrated talk and short video to highlight the range of bird, mammal and plant species that can be found at this interesting site. One hundred and fifty species of bird have been recorded at the site and it is important for both beavers and otters, along with several scarce plants that occur in different habitats at the site including coralroot orchid and the creeping subspecies of lesser water plantain.
Meet at The Tryst, Church of Scotland, Church Road, Pitlochry, PH16 5EB.
