Drummains Reedbed

Coastal reedbed, saltmarsh and mudflats with wildfowl and waders on the Solway Firth. The reserve is part of the Solway Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and Special Area of Conservation (SAC).

How to get there

Directions

From Dumfries, take the A710 Solway Coast Road south for 14 miles. The access path to the reserve is approximately one mile north of the village of Kirkbean.

Getting onto the reserve

Go through the kissing gate and follow the path between two hedges to the reserve entrance. Please note there is no designated parking at this reserve.

Access restrictions

Livestock is often present on the access path to the reserve (which is often rough and muddy). An unsurfaced path is maintained through the reedbed to the Merse.
