Island nature walk – explore Cumbrae’s wildlife and scenic beauty

Join us for a scenic 7-mile walk on Cumbrae island, discovering wildflowers and birds along the coast.

Explore the natural beauty of Cumbrae island on a leisurely 7-mile walk on a quiet level road and pavements, observing wildflowers and birds along the west side of the island. Enjoy the option to shorten the walk by 1 mile and there will be the opportunity to visit cafes in Millport at the end of the walk.

How to get to the event: take the train from Glasgow to Largs, with a return fare of about £10. Board the 10.15 ferry from Largs Pier to Cumbrae. Public transport options are available, but an early start may be necessary to arrive on time. The ferry return fare is £3.60. Parking is available at Largs Shore carpark - £5 for the whole day. The public toilets in Largs and Cumbrae charge 50 pence to be paid by card only, but the toilets on the ferry are free.

Booking essential. No dogs allowed except assistance dogs; livestock present; children must be over the age of 8 and accompanied by an adult; please wear suitable outdoor clothing and footwear and bring binoculars if you have them! Remember snacks or packed lunch too.
