Osprey Update

Our young osprey are keeping us on our toes! Yesterday, PT4 was in evidence all day, either perched up on the silver birches, flying around or sitting on the nest deafening visitors with a constant barrage of demands to be fed.

However, twice in the last week PT5 has disappeared from view for long periods of time, causing us to question if he has headed south. Then, he appears back in his usual perching spots and even favours us by joining PT4 on the nest.

Yesterday was a similar day of trying to see both the juveniles and LM12. Success came late in the afternoon when LM12, the insistent PT4 and the illusive PT5 all came together. Not only did LM12 finally provide a fish for PT4 but PT5 came flying into view with a fish in his talons, which he chose to eat, very skilfully, perched in the trees opposite the Hides.

We also had an intruding osprey checking out the loch, giving spectacular views against bluey grey clouds with thunder rumbling around the glen.

To answer the question ‘are osprey still at Lowes?’ – Yes! But don’t leave it too long if you wish to see them.
