Duke of Edinburgh Award places available

For the last few months we have had the pleasure of working with two young students doing their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Awards. Both Ben and Elise have now successfully completed their 3 month Volunteering placements at Lowes and we are sorry to see them go.

This means we now have vacancies for 2 more. If you or anyone you know would be interested in being at Loch of the Lowes for the Volunteering section of Bronze, Silver or Gold D of E Awards, please get in touch. Email lochofthelowes@scottishwildlifetrust.org.uk phone us on 01350 727337 or call in and have a chat.

We only take two placements at any given time.

Tasks include cleaning feeders, sweeping floors, restocking the shop, admin, and assisting staff in day to day running of the visitor centre to provide an excellent wildlife watching experience. Of course, there are certain perks! Like watching red squirrels chasing each other around the trees as you fill their feeders, the ospreys (between March-August), learning about the local wildlife, and being part of the team.

Tasks can also include painting our fences, as Ben discovered!

Meanwhile, back on the reserve, the osprey chicks are doing very well and due to fledge any day now!
