The cameras from both the Osprey Nest and the Peoples Postcode Lottery Squirrel Cam are both up and running.

The autumn feast of nuts, hedgerow fruits and fungi have been a great source of food for the red squirrels recently but we are pleased to say they are still visiting the feeders. It is bitterly cold today (overcast, 4 degrees C and not a breath of wind) and the birds are clustered round the feeders stocking up on the seeds.

For many months a single moorhen has stalked around the feeding station on its own but today there are two! Also, after deserting us for the last few weeks to take advantage of the rich pickings left behind in harvested fields, a yellowhammer has appeared. A small flock of long tailed tits and several bullfinches have also been spotted around the car park today but the most obvious wildlife are the fallow deer in the woodland.

Winter Opening Hours

On 1st November (this Wednesday) the Visitor Centre moves onto Winter hours: 10.30am-4pm Friday, Saturday and Sunday. However, please remember that the Double Decker Hide is always open and you are very welcome to come up to Loch of the Lowes any day of the week and enjoy the tranquillity of the loch, red squirrels, deer, beavers and birds.
