Autumn Fruits

Working on the reserves in Perthshire I get to see some amazing landscapes and I enjoy seeing the changes within them throughout the seasons.
During the autumn the colours are rich and vibrant not only of the leaves on trees but also brightly coloured berries.
This morning I went to one of the shingle islands on the Tummel River that I look after.
I was particularly impressed to see the density of the bright red berries on this Hawthorn. These berries will provide a nutritious source of food for a variety of birds like Redwings and Fieldfares aiding them in the coming winter months.
