Barry Buddon nature day

Join the Angus and Dundee Group on this outing to Barry Buddon, one of the last untouched natural sand dune systems on the east coast of Scotland, and an important habitat for a range of wild flowers, migrating birds and invertebrates. Access is often restricted, as it has been a military training location for over 100 years, but for one day only there will be regulated access to the whole site. Dolphins are often visible from the shore. There are birds and plants in abundance, enough to delight even the most seasoned nature lover. This visit is an absolute must for all wildlife enthusiasts.

Booking is not essential, but it would be helpful if you would let us know if you intend to come along.

Meet at Monifieth Football Club car park for 9.45am at the latest. From Monifieth High Street follow the red outlined sign to Barry Buddon camp and ranges. At the end of the street turn left into South Street and turn right under the railway underpass. Turn immediately left along the railway line and follow the track for about 500m to the Monifieth end of the football pitches car park. The group will then proceed "in convoy" to the main car park outside the camp for 10am.

The location has parking nearby and is accessible by public transport. Please be prepared to car share. This event is family friendly, though children must be accompanied by an adult. No dogs allowed except assistance dogs.

Please remember to bring a packed lunch, appropriate outdoor clothing, stout footwear and binoculars.
