Capital’s secret garden in the spotlight

STV came down to see the garden and met the reserve’s local convener, Jean Bareham.

With the Edinburgh Military Tattoo in full swing on the Castle Esplanade- just metres from Johnston Terrace, this little known reserve will intrigue visitors and residents alike. Many people have no idea that Johnston Terrace is a wild garden managed by the Scottish Wildlife Trust. As Scottish Wildlife Trust Reserves Manager for Lothian and the Borders, Julian Warman said, the reserve “is part of a valuable network of green spaces that benefit wildlife, help with the fight against climate change and flooding, amongst many other benefits.”

If you’re in the Capital for the Edinburgh Festivals over August, look out for Johnston Terrace and keep your eyes peeled for future open days when you can go into the garden to enjoy it for yourself.
