Title: Peatland Programme Officer
Contract: Provisional 1st July 2021 start date until 31st March 2022
Salary: £25,000 per annum
Location: Currently home working with future option of being based at Harbourside House, Edinburgh, EH6 6NF

The Trust successfully champions the cause of wildlife through policy and campaigning work, demonstrates best practice through practical conservation and innovative partnerships, and inspires people to take positive action through its education and engagement activities. It also manages a network of around 120 wildlife reserves across Scotland and is a member of the UK-wide Wildlife Trusts movement.

The IUCN UK Peatland Programme eagerly seeks applications from a suitably qualified candidate for the role this post. The Programme Officer will provide support to the wider team to ensure the Peatland Programme deliver its objectives and goals.
The successful candidate will be pivotal in the delivery of the Peatland Programme’s objectives to champion peatland values. They will have the level of knowledge and experience to drive forward and promote peatland restoration in the UK and be able to advocate the multiple benefits of peatlands through partnerships, strong science, sound policy, effective practice, and communication.
- Champion the importance of peatlands by promoting the environmental, social, cultural and economic value and functions of peatlands to key decision makers and the wider public.
- Co-ordinate and support the production of new resources and materials such as research and evidence summaries, briefings, website material and publications, including maintaining an awareness and interpretation of key emerging evidence.
- Provide support to the Programme team in stakeholder engagement and Programme administration needs, including drafting and editing programme reports and providing secretariat support to meetings
- Events management support primarily of the IUCN UK Peatland Programme annual conference (September 2021) and peatland events at COP26 (November 2021)
The IUCN UK PP is currently hosted by the Scottish Wildlife Trust, therefore the post holder will be employed by the Scottish Wildlife Trust.
