What inspired your passion for Scotland’s wildlife and nature?

Our members and supporters share their favourite memories.

My mum inspired my love of wildlife – she loved ospreys and I suggested we volunteer together at Loch of the Lowes. We spent many evenings in the hide together avidly monitoring the ospreys. We were also lucky to see otters, and almost every evening we saw the beaver family. I cherish the time we spent together at Lowes, and my love of wildlife lives on. – Gillian Ogg

So many of my childhood memories are tied up with wildlife – going for walks in the beautiful forests of Royal Deeside, scrambling up hills or swimming in rivers. My dad was a keen bird and wildlife watcher who would point out mountain hares, red squirrels, a sun-bathing adder or soaring kestrel. I am so privileged to live in a part of Scotland where we can still see such beautiful wildlife. – Judith Tocher

I inherited a love of wildlife and our precious environment from my father, who volunteered with the Scottish Wildlife Trust.  I love nothing more than spending time in the countryside with my wife and our dogs. – Alan Templeton
