As autumn advances, Loch of the Lowes is looking beautiful. The range of temperatures from below freezing to a balmy 20C this week, has ensured an amazing display of colours as leaves fade from summer green to yellows, red & bronze. Winter migrants continue to arrive on a daily basis & it is always exciting to see which species are present.

There are a number of interesting dates for your diary during October. Derek Robertson, BBC Wildlife Artist of the Year will be here at Loch of the Lowes on Saturday 5^th October. Derek is a well-known Scottish artist & author & will be talking about his work & the practical side of painting wildlife. The talk is from 14.00 to 15.00hrs. There is no need to book & normal visitor charges apply.

On Friday 11^th October between 18.00 & 20.30hrs there will be a ranger led Nightwatch Walk. There will also be a talk about the secret wildlife of the night. Come along & find out about owls, bats & moths. Learn how to use a bat detector & experience these shy nocturnal creatures – it will certainly be fun for all ages! As there is some outdoor activity, stout waterproof shoes, warm clothes & waterproofs are recommended & a torch will be useful. Tea & coffee will be provided.

Places are still available for two of the 2 day Digital Landscape Photography Workshops. These will be run by Ron Walsh of Alba Landscapes & Emma Rawling, our SWT Ranger.
