Saving for a rainy day

Despite the fact that the day has been very wet, we have had plenty of interesting animals visit us today at Loch of the Lowes

A lovely Grey Heron dropped in on the osprey nest this morning for a look- here’s a link to the video: http://youtu.be/vgW7jZRVGaI

Then later on a juvenile Great-spotted Woodpecker arrived at the osprey nest too!

At the feeding station there have been several red squirrels out braving the big rain drops to get some nuts from the feeder boxes.

Visitors were then treated to an amazing close up look of a young Fallow deer who had wandered in.  It stayed a few moments and then ran off, no doubt it’s mother was close by.

It just goes to show that even when the weathers wet and miserable, life at Lowes just keeps on going and there are still some amazing sights to see.

Why not visit us this weekend for our “meet a wee mammal” event with the Ranger or come into the centre to learn about mammal paw prints in our “Pause for Paws” event
