Summer season 2013

September is the month when summer officially ends, so it’s fitting that this is the time we see the last of the summer visitors leave the Basin and look out for the arrival of our most famous winter residents – the pink-footed geese.

If you didn’t get a chance to visit the Montrose Basin over the summer here is just some of the species you will have missed:

Avid watchers of our webcam will know that we’ve had some pretty good footage of osprey, hunting and feeding, over the last few weeks.  Here is some footage of just two of the individuals spotted over the Basin this year:

Despite the late start, it’s been another good summer for wildlife watching and, if last year if anything to go by, this winter should hopefully be the same.
