Welcome Home

We are very happy to confirm that we are as certain as we can be that the osprey on the nest is our famous veteran female affectionately known to many as “Lady”. Having compared the close ups we managed to get yesterday of her plumage and eye markings with the library of reference shots of earlier years, we are convinced it is the same bird, with just a couple of extra dots that she has probably acquired with age.

Obviously with an unringed bird you can never be 100% certain , but the combination of the markings and most importantly her behavior clinches it for us- she is overwhelmingly confident and at ease on the nest, and has roosted possessively on it overnight just as we would expect.

The celebrations here are in full swing- what better Easter present can you ask for ?

Here is a fabulous picture taken yesterday by one of our long standing volunteers Neil MacDonald who has kindly given us permission to share this with you.
