Upcoming Events at Loch of the Lowes

Here at Loch of the Lowes we have a 2013 events program bursting with fun and informative events for everyone. There’s a mix of family friendly activities, and special interest events for everyone from aspiring wildlife photographers, bug hunters,  to anyone who wants to learn to be wildlife spy. Many events are included free in the admission to our Visitors centre, and for others there is a small charge, with discounts for members- give us a call for details.  Here’s just a taster of what’s on the way in 2013:

On the 23rd and 24th March we have Spring Equinox Family Fun day on offer- celebrate spring with lots of crafts, quizzes and nature trails, free with VC entry.

On Easter Friday 29th March the ranger will be running an Easter B and B for Birds activity session- free bird feeder making in the VC, and bird nest box making to take home for a small fee, 11am – 3pm.

The monthly Guided nature walks to Loch of the Lowes from Dunkeld resume at the end of March the 28th  from 11am- 3pm- then last Thursday of every month, for a small fee, with booking required.

Of special interest to our Osprey audience will be the upcoming event “Marvelous Migration” on the 6th of April, 1-3pm. The ranger Emma will be giving an illustrated talk on the phenomenon of bird migration, including an in depth look at our Osprey Satellite tracking project. If you want to know more about the osprey satellite tracking process, data and research, this is the talk for you. It will be followed by a fun interactive game for all the family where you get to play the role of a migrating osprey! Small fee and booking essential .

Lastly we are again offering a Beginners Wildlife Photography course on April 12th and 13th, in conjunction with local photographer Kevin Hacker. This course was a great success last year and booked out quickly as places are limited, with the cost at £55 per person. Please note: there is an intermediate course later in the season and a Landscape photographers course on offer in the autumn too- details to follow. Booking Essential.

If you would like more information on any of these events, or to book a place where necessary, please just give us a call on 01350 727337.
