We have been getting lots of enquires about when to expect our ospreys to arrive at Loch of the Lowes from their wintering grounds to the south, after their long and hazardous spring migration.

We know birds are already on the move as sightings from further south of birds come in from bird watchers in the Mediterranean, southern Europe and even Cornwall. It is hard to know whether these are birds heading up to Scandinavia, or UK based ospreys, but time will tell. The high pressure system that is bringing us the glorious spring weather just now is certainly making their journey north easier,  so many birds are making good progress.

 Loch of the Lowes Recent Historical Osprey Arrival Dates

 We are all excitedly waiting for the arrival of our resident birds here and of course  we are keeping a sharp lookout from the hides on the nest and loch for any signs of birds.  We often get Ospreys passing through here on their way further north too- using Loch of the Lowes as a convenient refueling stop on route.

The webcam will be turned live to the Osprey nest  on the 11th of March in plenty of time to catch the earliest possible arrival date of the birds. We are just finalising some behind the scenes maintenance on them to make sure everything is in place before the birds arrive. Once the nest webcam is live you can all then help us keep an eye out for Osprey arrivals.
