Advent Calendar – Day 9

Jane Masters, who works at New Lanark, shares her highlight of the year with the Falls of Clyde team!

Badger Family © Scottish Wildlife Trust

“I joined the rangers on a badger watch earlier in the year. It was such a great experience, I never expected to see them so close. We saw about seven different badgers altogether but my highlight would be seeing the two badger cubs. One of them came right up to the platform. It was literally metres away from us. Then it went underneath the platform under our feet and was snuffling around us looking for worms for nearly half an hour! When it came time to leave we gingerly stood up thinking he would run off back to mum but he was so pre-occupied that we sneaked past him. It was such a perfect evening; a night I will never forget!”
