Advent Calendar – Day 23

Lin Barr, a member of our Tuesday volunteer group, Shares some highlights from the reserve this year.

This year has seen some heavy rains, which means full rivers and lush greenary! © Scottish Wildlife Trust

“This year it has been amazing working at the Falls of Clyde, even though there has been a lot of rain it has been hugely beneficial to the trees around the river, with amazing greenary and high river levels making the falls and woodland wonderful to see.

Another fantastic part of the reserve is the old Bonnington saw mill which is currently being excivated. Despite the condition of the stone walls of the mill the wheel pit is still intact, which was truly amazing! And on top of this the amount of small finds coming from the excavation is fascinating. I was most interested by the middle of the wheel which was discovered in the mill pit.”
