One of my regular volunteers to the reserve informed me last week that she had spotted our two female juvenile peregrine falcons that fledged earlier on in the year. They have managed to set up camp around Elsrickle just outside Biggar. They were seen only last week sitting on fence posts after having caught a pigeon.

You might be wondering how we can be so confident in our identification of these two birds, how do we know they are from the Falls of Clyde? Well, it seems highly likely considering they were both female, both together and both juveniles and only a short distance from the reserve. But of course we cannot be 100% sure unless we caught them and checked their ring numbers. Our peregrine chicks were ringed just before the fledged back in June. It’s wonderful to find out they are alive and well and still hanging out together; looking out for one another!
