Wildlife Diary 2nd January

Happy New Year everyone from a snowy and scenic Loch of the Lowes.

Our apologies for the disruption to the webcam service over the holidays, which was caused by the SWT HQ server going down. Try as I might, I couldn’t restart that from Lowes, and with the techno geek support squad on holidays, I was unable to magic a repair. Now the server is back up, I was able to restart the Lowes webcam this morning. Isn’t that just typical of technology to breakdown at Christmas! I hope at least some of you saw our little Christmas morning hello on the webcam though- thanks to my top volunteer, aka my fiancé, for wearing the squirrel costume!

Amazingly it is only ten or eleven weeks until our Ospreys are due back from Africa for another season- how fast the year turns! We will all need to keep our fingers crossed that both our usual birds make it safely through spring migration (not something we should ever take for granted) and arrive home again to Lowes. Hopefully it will be a successful and productive year for our birds. One thing is for sure, 2012 is guaranteed to be full of surprises and as ever I’m sure will teach us something new about Ospreys.

The Loch of the Lowes visitor centre reopens this Friday the 6th January.

Happy New Year to all!
