Loch of the Lowes Wildlife Blog 14th February 2011

Good morning all and a Happy Valentine’s Day,

Yes, its that time of the year again when we all hope to receive a gift or treat from that someone special in our lives.

Sadly, the Mallards don’t seem to realise this! All that one drake was ‘treating’ his lady friend to as I filled up the feeders was a vice-like head lock and a good old pecking! Then again, love never did run smoothly!

Its a bit of a grey day again here today; mild but with a clinging dampness in the air.

On the loch this morning I counted 26 Goldeneye, 3 Tufted Ducks and a Mute Swan.

Have a good day,

Jonathan
