Loch of the Lowes Info 8th Oct

Peter and myself are off on a fungal foray this morning, in search of some lovely, tasty species. I will update you with goings-on at the Loch on my return.

After trawling through last nights footage, it appears that ‘Moss’ only made one appearance at 4.15am, and didn’t seem pleased that his favourite peanuts had been gobbled up by the munching mallards! Now the ducks know there is food up there, it’s going to be very hard to keep them off.
There appears to be very little wildlife about today, with only one lonely tufted duck being seen on the loch so far! The sparrow hawk has been trying his luck again today and as a result, there are very few birds venturing out to the feeders.
During the fungi foray, I had the unfortunate discovery of a red squirrel which had been hit by a car very recently as the poor thing was still warm. I hope it wasn’t one of our family. Please watch out for squirrels (and other animals) when driving on country roads. They only have little legs and can’t out-run a car!
