No debut for our Moss last night at our trial pine marten evening, I think he got stage fright! There was plenty of hedgehog action and for those of you who missed it:


It looks like mum and baby judging by the size and the closeness.

There was a very quick appearance of a pine marten about 1.25am, but couldn’t tell if it was Moss. Didn’t seem to act like Moss, very nervous and jumpy, so perhaps it could be a new marten exploring the area. Here’s hoping!

There were a few fallow deer about last night including mum and calf, and a young male. You can clearly see his small antlers starting to grow and he will stay with mum until he is 18 months, when he’ll go join the boys:

The fallow bucks are in full rutting mode at the moment. It’s a fabulous noise! I’ll try find a recording for those that have never heard it.
