Osprey diary 2nd June

Good morning bloggers! It’s another pleasant day here at Lowes with a nice cooling breeze. Dad has been AWOL since about 5am this morning and there has been no fish deliveries this morning so far, so hopefully he is off finding a nice big trout! Mum and chicks seem content for the time being, with both chicks growing by the hour it seems! We are very proud of both mum and dad, they have both surpassed our expectations. Lets hope they keep up the great work.
Unfortunately it seems the bluetits have not been so lucky. It appears that they have lost all their chicks, just when the were about due to fledge. It’s very sad to watch, but nature can be cruel and it does happen a lot with little birds.
On a positive note, we have lots of juveniles of other varieties of birds and 2 baby squirrels have been spotted, which are incredibly cute! There are also many little ones appearing on the loch now too, with 8 canada gosling, many mallard ducklings and possibly some great crested grebe young, but this hasn’t been confirmed yet. There have also been sightings of butterfly, common lizard, slow worm, weasel and stoat, so plenty to be positive about!
