You call that a fish?

Finally our ‘new’ male  ( green leg ring 7Y) has fufilled his role as provider this afternoon, after the female spent much of the day shouting at him and demanding to be fed.  However, he has just brought in what is possibly the smallest fish we’ve ever seen on the nest- a tiny perch about 5 or 6 inches long!

Though probably unimpressed , our lady has taken off to eat it and we hope this is a good sign of proper pair bonding begining. We can only hope now that this new man gets the hang of bringing in sticks too, and hangs around to be a good partner for our veteran osprey female.

As for our regular male ” Stressed Eric” , well we haven’t given up on him altogther, but sadly it is looking less and less likely that he has survived migration.  If he does turn up now , things could get very interesting indeed!
