Osprey Diary 13th April

As some of our keen watchers have already spotted, our female osprey seems to have settled in the nest this morning, looking suspiciously like she is ready to lay an egg.

After spending lots of time yesterday deeping the cup shape at the nest centre , she settled down early this morning, which is normal pre-egg laying behaviour- which by the way isn’t an easy or quick task.

We will have to wait and see this morning if she does indeed lay (or has already) – normally she will stand up soon afterwards and have a look at her achievement.

So keep your eyes sharp today- we may yet have the first longed for egg of the season!
