About the Edinburgh group

The Edinburgh Wildlife Watch group arranges a variety of fun activities and events for children aged 5 to 10. From nature trails to scavenger hunts, arts and crafts to fungal forays, there are loads of cool ways to get closer to wildlife in your area.

29 January 2017 10:00 - 12:00   Winter Wildlife Olympics - Team G-Tree! Meet at - Holyrood Park Ranger Centre

Do you want to join Team G-Tree? Come along and test your skills with the challenges of nature and find out more about the wild Olympians and their personal bests - can you compete?  

 

26 February 2017 10:00 - 12:00  Brilliant Bawsinch - Bush craft and den building  

Fancy exploring the woods, building a den and learning how to make a fire? If you would then come along to Bawsinch where we will be getting back to nature and discovering the best ways to survive in the wild!

 

26 March 2017 10:00 - 12:00  Go wild with a ranger in spring! - Holyrood Park Ranger Centre

Join us when we meet the rangers of Holyrood who will take us into the park to find out more about the spring wildlife.

 

April (Date TBC) 10:00 - 12:00  Avian April - Meet at Holyrood Park Ranger Centre

Avian - what does it mean? Join us to celebrate our feathered friends around the world. We will have lots of fun finding out a about beaks, wings, nests and everything birdy!

 

28 May 2017 10:00 - 12:00  Brilliant Bawsinch - Sherlock Voles  and Dr What's-in the pond? 

Are you a nature detective? What lives in the ponds and woods at Bawsinch? We will see if we can find out when we go pond dipping and looking for mammal tracks - what other clues can you find?

 

17 June 2017 12:00 - 14:00  Party in the Park - Holyrood Park Ranger Centre

Come along and meet the children from the Newhailes Wildlife Watch Group for a party in Holyrood park. We will play wildlife games and have a picnic.

 

Based in Holyrood Park for 5 – 10 year olds. We usually meet at Holyrood Park Education Centre on the last Sunday of every month from 10am – 12noon.  Most sessions are £2 unless otherwise stated.   If you would like your child to attend a session please email or call or text 07526 708993
