News: Scope out local wildlife at Montrose Basin

30th August 2010

An optical fair providing a chance to test out a wide range of binoculars and telescopes is set to be held this weekend (Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 September) at the Scottish Wildlife Trust’s wildlife reserve and visitor centre.

Hosted by Viking Optical, the weekend event is aimed at wildlife enthusiasts looking to update their equipment or anyone interested in learning more about the technology available which can help you spot some of Scotland’s amazing wildlife.

The Scottish Wildlife Trust’s Montrose Basin Visitor Centre Manager Caroline Hendry said: “Experts from Viking Optical will be on-hand all weekend, displaying and demonstrating the equipment to give our visitors a chance to test the kit out or even treat themselves to something new.

“With the right equipment, wildlife watching can become a fascinating hobby which allows you to get close up views of wild animals in their natural habitats while, importantly, preventing any disruption.”

The Scottish Wildlife Trust’s optical fair will run from 10.30 am to 5 pm on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 September at Montrose Basin Visitor Centre.  Entrance to the visitor centre is reasonably priced at £7.50 for a family of two adults and two children; or £4.00 per adult and £3.00 per concession.  Members of the Scottish Wildlife Trust can visit for free.
