News: Response to Shiona Baird's battle to save land from Trump Development

6th January 2010

SWT comments on plans by former MSP Shiona Baird to save a patch of land owned by Aberdeenshire Council and earmarked for development as part of Trump's golf course plan (Press & Journal, 6 January 2010).

”The Scottish Wildlife Trust is a registered charity and manages over 120 wildlife reserves across Scotland for wildlife and for people. Before acquiring any new site, and to ensure sustainable management of its existing portfolio, the Scottish Wildlife Trust carefully evaluates the suitability and benefit of managing any new land against its organisational objective: to advance the conservation of Scotland’s biodiversity for the benefit of present and future generations. The piece of land in question would need to be considered carefully before any management commitment by the Scottish Wildlife Trust could be made. However we commend Shiona’s efforts to protect a fraction of this beautiful area from being consumed by Trump’s devastating development and standby to assist if we can.”
