News: Call for squirrel spotters near Tayside
27th August 2010
The Saving Scotland's Red Squirrels project is working with Forestry Commission Scotland to carry out some red squirrel conservation work on the west bank of the Tay near Stanley.
In the coming months a series of population surveys are planned in both Taymount and 5 Mile Woods. Surveys will be carried out along a set of "transect" lines of one kilometer in length across each woodland. They will be done in the early mornings when squirrels are most active. Help is being sought from volunteer surveyors from nearby towns and villages.
If you are interested adopting a survey line in either wood and paying three visits this autumn plus three more at a later date, please get in touch with the Tayside project officer on 01382 611028 or by e-mail at redsquirrel.project@dundeecity.gov.uk
