WALKS
A spring visit to Baron’s Haugh RSPB Reserve
Sunday 17 March 2024 10.00am – 1.00pm
A walk in one of the Clyde Valley’s honeypot wildlife sites!
Baron’s Haugh is one of the RSPB’s key sites in the Central Belt of Scotland and it’s a rare day when there is nothing good to see from the hides or along the Clyde. The reserve will change radically in the next few years as the Clyde will no longer be held outside the main pond, so a visit now will allow us to see it in its established form before the new land and waterscape develops.
Meet in the reserve car park off Manse Road, by the warden’s office.
There are no toilets at the reserve.
Please bring a packed lunch, binoculars, and wear suitable outdoor clothes. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
“RSPB Scotland welcomes responsible access, in line with the Scottish Outdoor Access Code. During the ground-nesting bird breeding season (1 April to 15 August) and in areas with livestock we would ask that you keep your dog close to you, preferably on a short lead and please clean up after your dog. To safeguard the natural heritage of the area we request that dogs are not permitted to enter the wetlands or pools.”
Public transport: Train to Airbles Station and walk 15 – 20 minutes.
Car: Baron’s Haugh RSPB Reserve, Manse Road, Motherwell ML1 2PZ

Spring flowers at the Falls of Clyde

Bring binoculars and wear suitable outdoor clothing and shoes. Children must be over 8 and accompanied by an adult. Livestock will be present so no dogs allowed except assistance dogs.
