Conservation volunteers

The Scottish Wildlife Trust are looking for a full time volunteer (30 hours a week). Applicants need to be aged between 16 and 25, and be happy to spend the majority of their time outside. You need to have a reasonable level of physical fitness (as it is manual work) and be keen to learn. Health and safety needs to be taken seriously as you will be using power tools. We will provide all necessary tools and equipment and train you on how to use them safely.

You will work as part of a small team, getting involved in a range of activities which could include: tree felling, strimming footpaths, building boardwalks, repairing fences, controlling scrub or non-native species.

If you see yourself as a bit of an eco-warrior and are keen to progress within the field of conservation, then this is an ideal role for you. To apply, please visit the ProjectScotland website.

Conservation Teams

We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to work with our Conservation Teams in Lanarkshire, Dumfries & Galloway, West Lothian, Midlothian, Borders, Fife and Dundee.

Work will involve a wide range of practical conservation tasks on our spectacular nature reserves and will go a long way to help conserve Scotland's wildlife habitats. A typical task might be controlling non-native species, strimming back overgrown vegetation, or building and repairing bridges and fences.

We will provide the skilled supervision, tools, equipment and transport to and from the sites. For more details contact recruitment@swt.org.uk

Membership and donor recruiters - FMR Solutions

Would you like to earn some extra income from doing something that you really believe in? Do you have 12-21 hours a week (flexible) to spare, during weekday evenings/weekend afternoons? Would you like an interesting job which combines gentle outdoor exercise with good potential earnings on a self-employed/freelance/commission basis?

Would you like to help the Scottish Wildlife Trust find some new supporters in your area and beyond? Following a tried and tested "soft approach"  formula, the post involves market research in the field, asking members of the public in the more prosperous areas one simple yes/no question and leaving information booklets about the charity with interested parties. Seasonal, typically March – October.

Applications from mature (maybe retired/semi-retired) people with a professional background or those with a demonstrable interest in wildlife conservation and/or environmental issues are particularly welcome. Promoters are required in all of the Trust's areas, but particularly in the smaller towns and semi-rural areas. You will have good all round communication skills, be socially confident in a wide variety of situations and be good at organizing your time and motivating yourself. You will have your own transport (bicycle OK in cities and larger towns). This post does not involve any selling or persuasion, but some sales, marketing, promotion, face-to-face public engagement experience or similar, is desirable. Full training is provided.

FMR Solutions Ltd is working on behalf of the Scottish Wildlife Trust helping raise funds and promoting long-term membership. If you'd like to know more about this post and apply, please visit the FMR Solutions website.

Membership promoters - CMFundraising

To help us raise public awareness and critical funding, Membership promoters are needed throughout Scotland. We are seeking part-time and full-time team members in most regions covered by the Scottish Wildlife Trust.

We are looking for enthusiastic and reliable people to work on behalf of the Scottish Wildlife Trust at pre-booked venues, at organised events and country shows. Most show and event work is at weekends during the spring to autumn season, however we also operate year-round both weekday and weekends at other venues within a radius of approximately one hour’s travel from your home. Some sales experience is desirable, but not essential.

The role may be ideal for those seeking a career or lifestyle change and we welcome applications from mature, professional people with above average communication and interpersonal skills. Applicants must be enthusiastic, outgoing and enjoy meeting people from all walks of life. Working patterns are flexible: typically 3-5 days per week. You will be working on a self-employed/freelance basis, with excellent reward packages. No previous experience is necessary as full training is provided. Access to your own transport is essential.
